What is Business Analysis?


It is the process of identifying business needs, gathering business requirements and determining solutions to business problems. The business analysis discipline is designed to deliver an understanding of user groups and the general business environments.

Main solutions include a systems development, business process improvement, change of organizations or strategic planning and legal policy developments. Conducting a business Analysis can be quite complex and time consuming.

We also come to know about the various methods and techniques that can be used when conducting a business Analysis. Business Analysis considered to be very closely linked to software development in the sense that most software developments approaches are designed by developers of software to facilitate building effective applications.

Who are Business Analysts?
  • Business analyst takes responsibility for talking to the business users of the computer system to understand their needs. Instead of producing plans, the business analyst produces 'requirements' which clearly state the business needs and align with business processes.
  • The definition of business analysis allows for many different approaches to the role. It brings in professionals who work on software projects, business process changes, logistics, or ensuring compliance with regulations. It brings in professionals who work on projects focused on integrating multiple software systems, building new software systems, and modifying existing software systems, or migrating from one software system to another. Sometimes specific industry expertise is required to be successful.

    Techniques are methods used by business analysts to perform business analysis tasks. The Business analysts apply their experience and knowledge to differentiate and determine

    which techniques are best suitable to address a given problem and how these techniques can be applied to a well-defined set of task. The Business Analyst may decide to use a single or combination of techniques to accomplish a given task.

    The role of a system analyst can also be defined as a bridge between the business problems and the technology solutions. Here business problems can be anything about business systems, for example the model, process or method. the technology solutions can be the use of technology architecture, tools or software applications. System analysts are required to analyse, transform and ultimately resolve the business problems with the help of technology.
